‘When I lost my husband after a long illness, Reiki helped me sleep at night and deal with the grief.’ – Alice

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a safe, non-invasive, therapeutic treatment that uses energy to help stimulate the body’s own natural healing processes. It achieves this without pressure, manipulation or massage.

The positive nature of Reiki works holistically on the physical body, as well as helping to restore mental and emotional imbalances. Reiki can aid wellbeing and works to ease pain or trauma, often leaving the receiver feeling calmer and more energised.

Because Reiki only ever works for good, it can be safely used for all conditions and is suitable for people and animals of all ages – from babies (including pre-natal infants), to the elderly.

What happens during a Reiki treatment?

Treatments last approximately 45 mins with the recipient lying comfortably and fully clothed on a treatment bed. The practitioner gently places their hands on or near the body, working over the whole person.

The body will only absorb the energy that it needs, which is directed to the place where it is required most. The positive nature of Reiki means it can never do harm and always works for the positive benefit of the receiver.

What can I expect to feel?

Each person experiences Reiki differently. In fact even for the same individual, each Reiki session will be different depending on what they might need at that time.

Common sensations often include warmth, heat, tingling, a calmer mind, increased energy levels, feeling soothed and deeply relaxed.

How many sessions will I need?

Reiki can be successful following a single treatment, though more than one session is often required to promote ongoing benefits. The number of treatments will depend on the condition.

Reiki has been known to work alongside conventional medicine – and can compliment other treatments, often helping them to work more effectively.

Please note: Reiki is not a substitute for medical advice, however, it can compliment orthodox treatments.
